API 5CT Tubing L-80, C-90, T-95, P-110, Q-125, NF M87-: An Overview
API 5CT Tubing is a widely used standard in the Oil and gasindustry. It specifies the technical requirements for the manufacture of seamless and welded steeltubes for use in Casing, tubing, and line Pipe. This article provides an overview of the differentgrades of API 5CT Tubing, including L-80, C-90, T-95, P-110, Q-125, and NF M87-.
L-80 is a type of API 5CT Tubing that has a controlled yield strength range of 80,000 to 95,000 psi. It is commonly used in moderate to high–pressure environments and is known for its excellent resistance to corrosion. L-80 Tubing is suitable for use in sour service applications, where the presence of hydrogen sulfide can cause corrosion issues.
C-90 Tubing, on the other hand, has a controlled yield strength range of 90,000 to 105,000 psi. It offers similar Corrosion resistance to L-80 Tubing but has a higher strength. This makes it suitable for use in more demanding environments, such as deepwells or high-pressure applications.
a In case of dispute, laboratory Rockwell C hardness testing shall be used as the referee method.
b No hardness limits are specified, but the maximum variation is restricted as a manufacturing control in accordance with 7.8 and 7.9.
c For through-wall hardness tests of Grades L80 (all types), C90, T95 and C110, the requirements stated in HRC scale are for maximum mean hardness number.
T-95 Tubing has a controlled yield strength range of 95,000 to 110,000 psi. It is known for its high collapse resistance, making it suitable for use in deep wells with high pressure and high temperature conditions. T-95 Tubing is also resistant to sulfide stress cracking, which is a common issue in sour service applications.
P-110 Tubing has a controlled yield strength range of 110,000 to 140,000 psi. It is one of the highest strength grades of API 5CT Tubing and is commonly used in deep wells with high pressure and high temperature conditions. P-110 Tubing is also resistant to sulfide stress cracking and has good resistance to corrosion.
Q-125 Tubing has a controlled yield strength range of 125,000 to 150,000 psi. It is the highest strength grade of API 5CT Tubing and is used in extremely demanding environments, such as deep wells with high pressure and high temperature conditions. Q-125 Tubing is also resistant to sulfide stress cracking and has excellent resistance to corrosion.
